The Peacemakers Path

From Heart to Home to World

When we slow down enough to observe, listen, discern, and strengthen, we begin to see others—and ourselves—the way Heaven does.

The Peacemaker’s Path: How Elder Stevenson’s Message Reveals the Divine Pattern of Flourishing

Inspired by Elder Gary E. Stevenson’s October 2025 General Conference message, “Blessed Are the Peacemakers.”

When Elder Gary E. Stevenson spoke in the October 2025 General Conference about being peacemakers, he wasn’t simply inviting us to stop arguing online or to be nicer at home. He was revealing a divine pattern of personal and relational transformation—the same sequence that undergirds the Flourish First philosophy.

He reminded us that peacemaking begins in our hearts, then extends to our homes, and finally reaches our communities. That simple sequence is also the progression of flourishing itself: Self → Connection → Responsibility. Or in the language of Christ’s two great commandments—to love God, to love our neighbor, and to love ourselves rightly.

This post explores how Elder Stevenson’s call aligns perfectly with the Unlock Journey—a living pathway for becoming, belonging, and leading in love.

🌱 Level 1 – Peace Within (Self): Becoming Whole in Heart

“Peacemaking still begins in the most basic place—in our hearts.” — Elder Gary E. Stevenson

Everything begins here. The first battle of peace is not against the noise of the world but the restlessness within us. Before we can calm storms in our families or communities, we must learn to quiet the ones that live in our own thoughts, pride, and fears.

In Unlock Level 1 – Self, we call this becoming: learning to see ourselves as God sees us. It’s the sacred work of aligning our heart with His love—of trading self-judgment for grace, and reaction for reflection. When we do, we reclaim a deep sense of self-competence—the assurance that we can choose peace, even when circumstances can’t guarantee it.

Peace within is not a reward for perfection; it’s the fruit of alignment with divine love.

🕊️ Level 2 – Peace at Home (Connection & Belonging): Practicing Love in Relationship

“Create contention-free zones in your homes.” — Elder Stevenson

Home is heaven’s first classroom. It’s where the principles of peace move from theory to practice—where love becomes more than a feeling and turns into patience, kindness, and forgiveness.

In Unlock Level 2 – Connection & Belonging, we practice the art of relational peacemaking. Every conversation becomes a chance to listen instead of react. Every conflict becomes a moment to rebuild trust. This is where the commandment to love our neighbor begins—because our neighbors live under our own roof.

When we learn to nurture connection at home, we create belonging strong enough to withstand life’s pressures. Family becomes not a source of contention, but a sanctuary of growth.

🌍 Level 3 – Peace in Community (Responsibility & Leadership): Extending Love through Influence

“Peacemaking requires courage and compromise, but never the sacrifice of principle.” — Elder Stevenson

Once peace lives within us and flows through our families, it cannot help but reach outward. In Unlock Level 3 – Responsibility & Leadership, we learn to lead as Christ did—using influence to heal divides, not widen them.

Elder Stevenson shared the story of Imam Ashafa and Pastor Wuye—former enemies who now lead reconciliation efforts together. Their courage shows that peacemaking is not passive; it’s redemptive leadership in action.

When we step into our communities with that same heart, we fulfill the call to love our neighbors beyond our own walls. We bring light to workplaces, congregations, and cities. We build bridges instead of barriers.

Elder Stevenson’s framework and the Flourish First Unlock Journey are two languages telling the same truth: Peace—and flourishing—always move from the inside out.

• Love God → Align your heart and identity (Level 1: Self)
• Love Your Neighbor → Practice connection and belonging (Level 2)
• Love Yourself Rightly → Lead and serve with purpose and responsibility (Level 3)

When we live in that divine order, we become conduits of peace—anchored in God, rooted in family, and reaching the world.

If Elder Stevenson’s message stirred something in you, consider it more than a feeling—it’s a calling. The Unlock Journey was created to help you live that process—one level, one insight, one transformation at a time.
